For Artists, drinkers, and drinking artists, from the pros- to the wanna-be artists. Anyone who can lift a pencil or a pint, come create art with us and draw with us. Meetings are twice monthly at one of our many Daycare For Drunks Approved watering holes in Saint Louis/Southern Illinois area.

There are only three simple requirements to join.

  1. You have to like to create some form or art.

  2. You have to like drinking, or at least hanging out in a bar.

  3. You have to be open to trying new things, pushing limits, testing waters.

Art Under The Influence participants seem as diverse of individuals as there ever could possibly be. However they share in at least 3 foundation setting principles.

  1. They don’t care if the glass is half empty, or if it’s half full. They just can’t wait to discover what's inside.

  2. Money, prestige or ego is not a guiding factor in what they do. However the insatiable need to create and or collaborate on creative projects is a core necessity to their happiness and survival.

  3. They embrace change, test limits, explore new limits and set new boundaries on a regular basis.

Still need more.....Even more about Art Under The Influence?

It’s a pressure-free zone. However seriously you want to get or however casual you want to be about it, that’s cool. That’s the beauty of it. It’s completely common to find some people just kind of doodling, and then right across the way somebody else who is intensely into what they’re doing. The bar, of course, serves up the drinks, which act as a social lubricant as well as a creative one. It tends to loosen everybody up.

The meetup provides chipboard to draw on—you bring your own pencils, pens, paints, camera, clay, or, really, any tools or media you want. (Within reason of course: “If somebody shows up with an arc welder the chosen bar might have a problem) T

What type of art do you allow? Well unlike the traditional Drink and Draw groups. We allow graphic and design, 3d modeling, photography, video editing etc...

As we mentioned, each meeting has a broad theme, for instance “Poke the bear, rattle the care, rock the boat”, but after imbibing, themes often go out the window quickly, much to some attendees delight. Along with the overall theme there will be other side challenges and scavenger hunt like activities if one chooses.

YES THERE ARE PRIZES/AWARDS - And have we told you about the online leader board or the highly coveted  Thirsty Liver- Starving Artist Trophy which is under construction out of state but will be on display at upcoming meetings. Wait till you see this thing!

At the end of the night we document the nightly creations,, we can store them in our weather controlled storage library or we can just photograph or scan the creation at a bare minimum. We are not asking anyone to sign their rights away, we are just asking for contact info attached to the piece so that it has the possibility in being included in future projects such as are year end coffee table book/e-book called, Art Under The Influence Saint Louis Style.

100% of money generated by your inebriated doodles through product sales will be funneled back into the group and to its card carrying members to support future group projects and approved members projects.

Between the casual atmosphere and good company, there’s really no downside to turning up, even if you haven’t put pen to paper in years.  All we ask is that you participate and that you just don’t drive. Please make prior transportation arrangements.  - Johnny B. Rogue (Founding Member and Organ Donor)
